Chad Pallansch, Searchers Look for Missing Trail Runner in Rocky Mountains National Park

The search for the trail runner whowent missing over a week agoin Rocky Mountain National Park is still in progress.

“Helicopter flights are occurring today for aerial reconnaissance and to confirm suitable landing zones to insert teams in the field beginning tomorrow. Weather and resources permitting, ground searchers and dog teams will be flown to several locations,” they wrote in the latest news release.

Search efforts will continue on Friday, according toCBS Colorado.

He was last heard from around noon the previous day when a text message “indicated he was almost to the summit of Mount Alice.”

Although he had experience in running through many routes in the area, he had never taken the one he did on Sept. 28, NPS officials said.

Pallansch is 5 ‘7,” 155 pounds and is likely wearing a black ultralight jacket, a gray fanny pack and black running shorts or leggings. He also had a personal navigation with him that wasn’t set for emergency purposes.
