The pair agreed to split joint legal and physical custody of their two children.
“[Kendra] was of course heartbroken when her marriage fell apart, but soon realized this is what’s best for everyone,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “She’s focusing on herself, her health and most importantly her children. She’s looking forward to what the future holds.”
After nearly nine years of marriage, Wilkinson filed for divorce from Baskett in April 2018. The same day she filed,Baskett respondedwith his filing and mirrored her documents. Both cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, listed their date of separation as Jan. 1, 2018.
Last year, Wilkinson shared a slideshow of adorable photos of her son and daughtercelebrating Easterwith baskets of colored eggs. Her post was just a week after multiple sources told PEOPLE that Wilkinson’s marriage to Baskett wasunder serious strain.
The week before Easter, Wilkinson enjoyed afun tripto theCoachella Music and Arts Festivalwith her friends.
After leaving the festival early, Wilkinson explained her decision to do so on Instagram.
“I was invited to all the amazing events out there and was truly excited to go but there was one thing holding me back besides having a lot to do for my babies and that was the fear of one picture getting out of me dancing maybe with one eye closed and it being spun that I’m going downhill in my life,” shewrote.
“I’ve worked too damn hard in my life and this last year to become the strongest most amazing woman I’ve ever known, best mom award type s— LOL,” Wilkinson continued. “There was the side that got paranoid that the public image would harm my well being even though I’m doing nothing wrong. It’s a weird place to be right now because I am single and fun but I’m still in the public eye so if I’m going to still be here I want to represent myself properly, even during my fun times.”
Easter is not the first holiday Wilkinson has spent with her kids after separating from Baskett.
For Valentine’s Day, the star spent the day with her daughter as seen onInstagram.
In December 2018, Wilkinson opened up about celebrating her first Christmas since hersplit, telling PEOPLE: “It’s definitely going to be a new year for us, new holiday for us, as a separated family.”
