Mike Hankey has captured this over-the-top photo of the comet ISON , which is experiencing some surprising action as it come near the Sun . It ’s so perfect it seems artificial . ISON was discovered only a year ago and it ’s now evident in the dark sky .
Hankey lead this photo with a 60 2d exposure .
According to Pablo Santos Sanz — of the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalucia — ISON has experience an impressive fifteen - fold addition on the sublimation of hydrocyanic dot and water system in the last 48 hours .

Scientists do n’t know exactly why this volatile reaction has occurred . One of the theories , concord to Santos Sanz , is that the comet ’s rotation axis of rotation is more or less aligned with its direction towards the sun , so it ’s getting a circumstances of solar radiation syndrome .

If you live outside of a city , you could see ISON in the sky now with your naked eye . With good binoculars , you will be able to see it clearly . Just awaken up betimes ( around 4:30am or so ) and look for Mercury . Ison should be above it , to the right .
