This is n’t the surface of another planet . In fact , it ’s a flase - color image of Canada ’s Manicouagan Crater , as captured by the European Space Agency ’s Sentinel-1A satellite .
Created over 214 million years ago , the crater — which you’re able to see clearly on the right of the look-alike — is one of the oldest and gravid impact crater on the planet , measuring 100 kilometers across . The image was captured by Sentinel-1A ’s radar sensing equipment , and the dissimilar colouring reveal magnetic declination in terra firma screening : blue areas are particularly tight or glacial , while yellow and orange region are covered by age botany ( brisk vegetation would usually show up in Bolshevik ) .
