Ok , so the QuietComfort 15s look almost exactly like the span ofQuietComfort 2syou used that one fourth dimension you had enough miles to fly business class , and they still be $ 300 , but you ’ll have to trust me : Something ’s changed .

Anyone who ’s had much exposure to Bose ’s bulky QuietComfort 2s or small QuietComfort 3s knows the story : they scratch haphazardness pretty well , and they sound reasonably good , though in the last few years — QuietComforts have been around in their current Incarnation for asurprisingly retentive clock time — other company have step in with Cartesian product that do fairly much the same thing , sleazy . So ! Bose has two options : Go low , or , you know , improve the mathematical product . With the QuietComfort 15 , which will replace the old honest-to-goodness old QC2 start tomorrow , they ’ve gone with the latter .
From a figure standpoint , this is a very familiar product — it ’s difficult to find out any external hardware alteration aside from a new LED indicator and a slenderly changed curvature on the headband . Likewise on the sound , which is perfectly decent , but wo n’t blow audiophiles away .
The noise canceling , on the other hand , is a different story : it strip out low frequencies way , way good than the QC2 or QC3 , to the spot that typical airway interference ( simulated in my tryout , but definitely flashy ) becomes almost imperceptible . Wearing these things fathom almost like assume two of the old models , heap , if that makes any sense . Pending full test , I ’d say it feels like this is a levelheaded raise for the QuietComfort ’s target customer : guy wire in suits with belt - strapped iPod Classics , and airlines .
That said , they ’re still fairly bulbous , and probably deserved a redesign , since this shell ’s been around for nearly a decade . That , and the price : The QuietComfort 15 is going to inherit the $ 300 pricepoint , and since its improvement are fairly insidious , it ’ll be hard not to feel a little ripped - off at the register .
