2 - Year - Old Self

After reading about the contest my two yr old and myself went outside to see what we could feel . We came across a snake feeder that did n’t seem to discommode by us getting up in his boldness . I was able-bodied to get the macro lens to its minimal focus aloofness of 12″ which resulted in an insanely tenuous astuteness of field of battle at f/2.8 ( 0.04″ ) . I bumped it up to f/5.6 for a DOF of 0.08″ which got more of the capitulum in the centering plane . While I was frame in my shot my two year old was redact his own with his VTech Kidizoom and blackguard “ my click bug ! ” . If you enquire me I guess he did a pretty just job ( see the other connected look-alike ) . Canon 6D Canon 100 mm f/2.8L IS USM 1/100 sec f/5.6   100 ISO

Sony SLT - A57 , Konica Minolta 18 - 70 mm f3.5/5.6 outfit lens ( flipped ) , ISO 800 , Shutter Speed 1/80 , f3.5 ( or so , no manual dominance on genus Lens ) I am an avid follower of Gizmodo , I look at it daily and incessantly see the Shooting Challenges but have never take the initiative to do one . I just recently buy my Sony SLT - A57 however , and decide to give it a attempt . This photo was taken in my backyard on a tomato plant at around mid - Clarence Shepard Day Jr. . Although some other contestants may have crossed desert simply to get a photograph , I went into my backyard and I have to say the worst part was mosquitoes ! Regardless , I still think this is a great picture and I trust you agree !

I was visiting my parent and decide to take the chance to shoot some macro stroke of flowers in the garden . The Nikon 105 mm VR Micro is a stellar lens and my front-runner ; I endeavor to use it every fortune I get . Well , the insects actually turned out to be much more interesting . Only afterwards I remember reckon the contest on Giz … Out of 80 or so shots I pick out this one because this small guy wire had the most personality – looking at the photographic camera and sticking his natural language out at you ! The vibrant colours of the flower and the overnice coloured backcloth total to the shot . I had other intentions when I went out bug hunting . There have been monolithic orb weaverbird in my backyard all summertime , but when I move to find them , they were in hiding . A few fly and a pappa long stage later , and the best that I could rule was an old moth . Mosquitos had been seize with teeth at me the whole time , and then I finally had one country on my leg . I made certain to let it get a steadfast grip before I take the lens up . The swiveling display came in handy , because I had to aim the camera towards myself in social club to get the right slant . When the mosquito was done , it flew away and leave a respectable ruddy bump on my shin . It was shoot with a Canon 60D with a Tamron 100 mm Macro lens . 1/125 f2.8 at 100 iso .

This year I decided to taste my paw at grow jumbo helianthus which are in the centre of flower . For a few weeks I have been watch over as birds , bee and many other insect gossip but this was the first time I saw a wanderer . Damselfly

I get laid I would only have one good morning to go out shoot . I also know that a damselfly was my end . Most the great unwashed do not realize how hairy a damselfly is and I hoped that I could get an paradigm to show it . The best means to light up the pilus and the tiny translucent legs on a damosel is with a strong backlight . I used my Canon MP - E 65 mm macro lens with a twin light split second on my old 40D. I have the duplicate blink of an eye set up up with the most ghetto contraption made of composition board , duct tape , diffusor and reflector . I spent at least an hour and a one-half chasing damsels around until I was able to find this one sit still . I dialed the macro instruction up to somewhere between 3:1 and 4:1 macro ratio which give only 2 - 3 millimeter depth of field . I set my camera to ISO 100 , f/11 and 1/250 second and cranked up the office on the flash that was being reflected from behind the insect . I only got 2 or 3 images and there it was….gone !

Hunted

I was hanging out in the yard with some supporter and they saw a grandaddy recollective leg . As i was walking over to take a picture i saw this beautiful specimen cringe through the Mary Jane . I got up closely and she was ready and uncoerced to be my model , and such a great model at that ! After the shoot we went our different direction and it was a very pitiful time for both of us . She will always live in our hearts no matter what happens to her in the future . Until we meet again my darling . I used my Canon EOS Rebel T4i with an 18 - 55 mm lens with a 10x macro attachment , and a macro ring fanfare as you could see in her eyes .
